Location: Netherlands, office-based (currently in Zaltbommel) with flexibility to work from home. Frequent travel in the Netherlands and occasional international travel will be required.

Salary: 2.181 - 2.380 Euro gross per month FTE (35 hours) depending on skills and experience + additional 8% holiday allowance paid monthly
Contract: Fixed term – 1 year with potential to extend depending on project requirements and funding

Hours: Full time (35 hours per week over 5 days) – part time option of 4 days per week will be considered for the right candidate

Het nieuw gevestigde team in Nederland is vanwege zijn succesvolle en innovatieve werkwijze in een rap tempo aan het uitbreiden. Earthwatch is een internationale non-profit organisatie en erkend onderzoeksinstituut die zich inzet voor ‘a world in which we live within our means and in balance with nature’. We zijn experts op gebied van ‘citizen science’, waaronder ook ‘boerenwetenschap’, ‘bedrijfswetenschap’ en ‘beleidswetenschap’. We zetten onze kennis in om samen met boeren, burgers, bedrijven en beleidsmakers wetenschappelijk robuuste data te verzamelen over onder meer bodemkwaliteit, waterkwaliteit en biodiversiteit. Door kennis van verschillende betrokkenen te bundelen en samen te meten, creëren we een constructieve dialoog en een veilige omgeving waarin we samen kunnen onderzoeken waar knelpunten zitten en hoe die opgelost kunnen worden. Gezamelijk werken we aan het implementeren van oplossingen, inclusief verdienmodellen, en deze te verankeren in de dagelijkse praktijk. En we meten natuurlijk samen wat het effect hiervan is. Dit doen we zowel binnen grote internationale onderzoeksprojecten als lokaal in gebiedsspecifieke projecten.

Earthwatch Nederland is in korte tijd uitgegroeid tot een hecht en enthousiast team dat werkt aan duurzame landbouw en natuur in de stad. We werken met een groot aantal partners, waaronder buurtverenigingen, natuurorganisaties, onderzoeksinstellingen, soortenorganisaties, waterschappen, provincies, gemeenten en boerenorganisaties. Deze nieuwe functie biedt een unieke kans om het team te versterken in de verdere uitbouw, in nauwe samenwerking met de programmamanagers en research managers. De ideale kandidaat is goed georganiseerd en uiterst communicatief, met een scherpe focus op het waarborgen van de uitvoering van activiteiten volgens een hoge standaard. Je hebt ervaring met effectieve planning en het werken aan overeengekomen processen om resultaten te leveren, waarbij je nauw samenwerkt tussen verschillende teams. Ook ben je in staat om proactief en zelfstandig te werken en waar nodig begeleiding en ondersteuning te vragen.  Ervaring met het werken in een NGO, onderwijs- of wetenschapsorganisatie zou nuttig zijn, maar niet essentieel. Dit zal een gevarieerde rol zijn met veel mogelijkheden om je ervaring uit te breiden en nieuwe vaardigheden te ontwikkelen, terwijl je in een druk, vriendelijk en ondersteunend team werkt.

Earthwatch is recruiting a Project Coordinator to support delivery of our projects primarily in the Netherlands.

The ideal candidate is well organised and an excellent communicator, with a keen focus on ensuring delivery of activities to a high standard.  You have experience of effective planning and working to agreed processes to deliver results, demonstrating collaborative working across different teams. You are also able to work proactively and independently, asking for guidance and support when necessary. Experience of working in an NGO, educational or science organisation would be beneficial but not essential. This will be a varied role with lots of opportunity for expanding your experience and developing new skills, while working in a busy, friendly and supportive team.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Role Purpose:

To provide administrative and hands-on support to ensure the effective delivery of the Netherlands managed projects including Tiny Forest planting days and citizen science monitoring activities.

Key Deliverables

  • Coordinate the delivery of project activities working across teams
  • Deliver Tiny Forest planting and science days, Naturehood activities and sustainable agriculture activities with farmers to different audiences (communities, schools, corporates) and work effectively with different team members
  • Deliver environmental and science education to different audiences
  • Liaise with landscape contractors to book site assessments, soil preparation days and planting days
  • Provide administrative support including booking travel, purchasing supplies, raising purchase orders and preparing equipment and materials for Netherlands managed projects and office.
  • Support key relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery
  • Monitor project outcomes and impact, and completion of reports according to agreed monitoring frameworks
  • Support excellent communication amongst NL team members, through building strong relationships and administrative support
  • Create and update briefing documents, plaques and posters using standard templates
  • Support with creation and updating of risk and health and safety documentation

REQUIREMENTS

Essential

  • Excellent planning and organisation skills –able to multi task and work well under pressure
  • A pro-active self-starter who works on their own initiative: able to resolve issues and provide solutions and judge where issues need referring
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to successfully work with diverse audiences and build strong relationships
  • Quick to pick things up, confident in engaging a variety of audiences
  • Flexible, self-motivated and with excellent time management skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills (in Dutch and preferably also in English) and attention to detail
  • Intermediate/advanced IT skills: Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Proven ability to deliver to agreed deadlines
  • Previous work experience in administrative positions or other work experience within an office environment
  • Experience working with external suppliers and/or contractors
  • Ability to independently travel to project sites
  • Commitment to the mission and values of Earthwatch


Desirable

  • Experience of working in an NGO and/or educational or science organisation
  • Experience of event management
  • Clean driving licence(for travel to more remote project sites)
